Using Vastu Shastra Concepts In Homes

Vastu Shastra is a concept of adding balance to a living space. It seeks to iron out the imperfections in the person by implementing corrective steps to negate the adverse forces on a person. However, with Vastu, rather than approaching it as an exact science, it would be more suited to handle it as a philosophy that seeks to balance out the whole person. By using proper Vastu steps in the interior works, it is possible to reverse any negative side to the structure and seek to bring a fuller experience to the inmates of a premise.

Discussed below are some simple applications of the Vastu concepts as implemented by the residential interior designers in Mumbai.

1. Positioning the stove in the kitchen

In the case of energy flows that occur through space, there is a strong need to face eastward and more so during the first few minutes of the start to the day. So it would be appropriate to keep the cooking range in the eastern side of the kitchen and for that matter any area where the cooking is being done. This allows the homemaker to face east while lighting the first fire of the day and this would ensure a flow of positive energy. There are the Vastu consultants who would insist on laying out a certain optimum height to the cooking platform. However, this has to be done after careful consideration and not attempted by novice practitioners. The ill effects due to a misplaced reading could be somewhat severe. It would be more convenient to have the height of the range decided by taking the easy reach to the person.

2. Directing the water flow in a home Water would form an essential constituent of most homes. It would be proper to lay out the flow of water as dictated to by concepts of Vastu. With the modern conveniences of overhead tanks and free-flowing water, it is not easy to control the flow of water, but it needs to be stressed that wastewater should be taken care of properly. The fact that wastewater seeks to remove the impurities of a home, would call for some points to be implemented while dealing with the issue. Ideally, the flow of the water must be from the South-West towards the North-East. This would ensure that the incoming water flow is managed to fall outside this flow of dirty water. Diseases are kept at bay with this concept of separating the water flows, and most Vastu consultants would stress this aspect.

3. Applying theories of Vastu to furniture arrangement

Arranging the furniture in a living space can be a very complex issue. Compounding this is the fact that there are a number of different components that are used to make out the furniture pieces. It is not that hard to find metals like copper, steel, aluminum, etc. along with a range of hardwood and softwood too. So applying the concepts of balance of energy to a home or office as envisaged in the Vastu principles is not the easiest of things to do. The right step is to list out all that is contained in each of the rooms in a home. The Vastu expert would then try to prioritize the pieces in the order of their uses and their indispensability. This would allow the needed flexibility to change and move around the furniture to bring in the best results concerning the Vastu Shastra.

4. Letting in the right type of light When people speak of light regarding Vastu, it is the natural sources of light that are being dealt with. This would be the Sun and the Moon for the most part; although the light emitted by certain celestial bodies does have to be considered during certain transitions. As for the artificial light sources, they can be changed and modified at will and is never an issue towards the final result.

Residential interior designers in Mumbai do take pains to see that the best practices as laid out in the Vastu Shastra principles are followed. But equally important is for the inhabitants to home to observe the finding of the consultation.
